Vanpooling
If your morning commute is putting major miles on your car – more than 30 miles each way – then vanpooling may be for you.Whereas with carpooling a small group uses someone’s personal vehicle, with vanpooling a larger group of people – seven to 15 – leases a vehicle specifically for the purpose of commuting to work.
All expenses are split between the vanpoolers – meaning more savings for you throughout the month. You drive the van – you park it at your house – you save a lot of money and help the environment!
Okay, I’m interested – now what?
The first step towards vanpooling is to team up with a large group of commuters who live and work in the same area that you do.We can help you find potential vanpool partners when you enroll in our ridematch database. By signing up, you will receive a list of people who are interested in sharing the ride to work.
You will need to contact the people on your matchlist to figure out the details of your ridesharing agreement. Remember, the people on your matchlist are just like you – smart, thrifty, environmentally conscious commuters who are looking for a cost-effective way to get to work.
We realize that it can be intimidating when sending that first e-mail or making the first call to a potential carpool or vanpool partner. If you’re at a loss for words, let us help! We have sample e-mails and phone scripts that you can use to get the conversation started.
